An Alternative Solution For Dealing With Panhandlers
Ever wonder what to do when someone holds up a sign asking for food, money or work? The easy answer is of course to toss a bill, but my in-the-know friends tell me never to do this as we may be contributing to increased substance abuse.
I always feel sad and selfish when I see such suffering that I had to find a solution. You might like to join me as I have found a way that not only has made me feel better, but those asking have shown me great gratitude.
My cheap, easy and meaningful solution is to carry a bag of oranges or other in-season fruit, a case of water and a bunch of protein bars. You can easily pick this up at the canned food warehouse and be ready to hand a nutritious snack with compassion to a fellow human in need. – Jan Kral, CEO, Shangri-La Corporation
