State Capitol Hosts Developmental Disabilities Awareness Event
It has been 10 years since the closure of Fairview Training Center, Oregon’s largest institution for people with developmental disabilities, and the Oregon State Capitol hosted a celebration on February 24 to mark the occasion. To better understand the unfortunate living conditions Fairview provided, watch The Voices of Fairview documentary.

Shangri-La and nearly 20 other community providers of services for people with developmental disabilities filled the Capitol’s Galleria. Their presence showed the progress the state of Oregon has made in shortening the wait list of those still in need of DD services.

The event included a proclamation from the Governor, remarks from influential policy makers and advocates for people with developmental disabilities, and an award ceremony.
