We Love A Parade!
Well, it’s happened again. Shangri-La has won another parade float award! Our great coastal group built and decorated the award winning float for the 103rd Annual Rhododendron Grand Floral Parade which was held in Florence, Oregon on Sunday, May 23, 2010. This was the first year Shangri-La entered a float in this parade and we won the the top award, the Grand Marshal Award!

Shangri-La clients rode on the float wearing rhododendron colored tie-dyed tee shirts created at Shangri-La’s Coastal ASP Program. Our float was built to look like the Florence bridge and our float riders and walkers donned hard hats, safety vests while carrying construction signs to represent the construction workers who seem to be ever present and constantly working on the famous bridge.
Numerous staff from Florence, Newport and Salem also rode and walked in the parade. They also handed out Shangri-La “Fast Facts” cards and candy to parade watchers along the route.
Although a chance of rain was predicted, it did not rain during the entire parade and the crowd was pleased with the entry and showed it by waving, clapping and shouting approval.
As always, We’d like to thank all who participated and supported us promoting our organization in a fun filled way. We look forward to participating in next year’s parade and maybe add to our growing list of parade awards.
